Station 09
Between the eighth Station and the ninth Station is a monastery. In order to go around the monastery, follow the stairs back down toward Station seven, then turn right. Slightly ascend for another 80 meters then turn right and walk up the stairs. Follow the street until you come to the Ninth Station.
Here, tradition commemorates Jesus falling a third time. Being close to a physical breakdown He walks the final meters to the hill of Golgotha. There, on a higher elevation, every eye could see Him.
Jesus had prophesied that He would be lifted up as Moses lifted up the bronze snake in the desert (Numbers 21:9). In this Old Testament story, all who looked to that snake did not die from the venomous snakebites but lived. Jesus would be lifted up likewise so that we could see Him and as we look to Him in faith we also would live (John 3:14).
Reflection
We have arrived at the top of the hill where Jesus would be lifted up on the cross and all would be able to see Him. Any one looking to Jesus by faith will live.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord that I will live and have eternal life by looking to you.
